Timothy McCormack - HEAVY MATTER

This program is a meditation on sound as a physical object, starting with Jason Eckhart's "compression" realizing the reality of asphyxiation, expecially as it relates to police brutality. We'll also have Anthony Vine's "scrim" a work that will having you guessing where the difference between trombone sounds and cassette decks (yes old school cassette decks!) We'll also be listening to a deconstruction/reconstrution of Mozart's famous Tuba Mirum trombone solo written by the inimitable Reiko Fueting, alongside a performance in near darkness of Aaron Cassidy's "songs only as sad as their listeniner". We'll end with the most popular avant garde trombone solo fo the 21st century, "HEAVY MATTER" where the sound itself aims to become a fluid, moving object in space and time.
